Penny’s Naturals is the brainchild and love of Tommy Copeland and Penny Calcina. It began with a request. Penny had been using only pure, natural soaps for many years. Sensitive to the smell and feel of artificial colors and fragrance, she asked Tommy to convert to a pure laundry detergent that would not leave those smells and residue on clothing. Tommy’s alchemist brain went to work crafting homemade, silky, powdered laundry detergent that was not only pure, it was cleansing, conditioning and effective. It was a hit and as they say, well, here we are! Read More...

~Give it Thyme~ While we all know elderberry’s antiviral & immune strengthening qualities, thyme has long taken a backseat as “just” a culinary herb. However, you’ll find the healing benefits of a little thyme can go a long way. • An expectorant, cough-suppressant, & anti-inflammatory, thyme can calm all lung & throat troubles. Helpful for colic or digestive issues, it acts as a carminative & antispasmodic for the colon. Relieving to psoriasis, eczema, hives, just about any rash can benefit from this antifungal, antimicrobial plant. • Whether you have the cold, bronchitis, the flu, digestive troubles, or skin imbalances, this little herb is essential to survive the winter months🍃✨ • 📷 via Kinfolk ...

~Waste Not~ Ideas for stretching scraps to make more🥕🥦🍎🍌🥣🍽 • In light of the still-expanding bushfires in Australia & the hot and cold bipolar weather patterns here in SC, growing crops is getting difficult across the globe😳🌏🔥 • Unpredictable heatwaves & sudden frosts means we can’t expect farmers to simply churn out the crops as has been done🙅‍♀️ • Reducing & reusing are great but resourcefulness will be our secret weapon for turning a little into a lot🙌 ♻️Instead of putting scrap in the compost, keep a bin in the freezer and eventually throw it all together in a slow cooker for a nutritious homemade veggie broth🥣 ♻️Browning bananas add delicious flavour to cookies, cakes and bread. This healthier alternative will mean using less sugar/honey in a recipe. Add a splash of bourbon to the banana bread for an extra twist🤠 ♻️Broccoli stems sliced and covered with coconut oil & rosemary make a healthy alternative to french fries. Bake at 375 until tender in the middle🥦 ♻️Use pulp from your juicer to fill out breads or add a serving of fiber to pancakes. Kale is lovely, and zucchini, carrot, and celery all work well too🥞🍞 • With a little creativity, we can turn used up resources into something new🥳✨ • 📷via Honey & Jam by Hannah Queen ...

~Wishing prosperity for everyone in 2020~ Lucky collards & cabbage are eaten to garner success with money in the new year, but what does that actually look like?💰💎💖 Think about everything you want to gain this year: how much of it do we really need? Prosperity begins at home, appreciating what we already have. Once we reprioritise our achievements, put success on the side and our true life’s calling first, everything we need comes to us.✨🧲 Been a dreary one out at @sodacitysc this morn, thanks to everyone who came out in the rain! 👏♥️ We have many ways of achieving a prosperous year, any ideas? 📷Nadine Greeff ...

Frankincense *the gift given to gods* ~Epiphany~ according to the Christian bible, the day that 3 magi brought their gifts to a newborn king. Approximately 200 years prior, a powerful king also offered frankincense to the god Apollo. Such is how frankincense was valued for its medicinal properties and imperial symbolism👑🏺🧬 As this gift was treasured in biblical times, we must also do what we can to protect its diminishing populations threatened by the multi billion dollar essential oil industry. Our frankincense & myrrh soap is fit for a king as its cured with essential oil & actual resin, the way it might have been for a newborn prophet. Revere its cancer-fighting potential, revel in its calming grounding aroma; it’s easy to feel like a deity after mingling with its decadence✨ Gift it to someone who you hold in high regard—this could very well be yourself!💆‍♀️ 📷via Bodha ...
